Software Developer & Database Systems Specialist
Position Overview:We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Software Developer and Database Systems Specialist to join our team at the Public Service Commission (PSC). The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, enhancing, and ensuring the smooth operation of our existing Document Management System (DMS) and Portal. This role requires expertise in ASP.NET, SQL Server, and JAVA, as well as strong proficiency in database management and system administration.
Responsibilities:
SQL Server Database Maintenance:Perform all DMS-related SQL Server database maintenance tasks, including backups, corruption detection and fixing, index rebuilding, and management of data and transaction log files.
Monitor and maintain system services to optimize performance and ensure data integrity.
Cloud Migration:Collaborate with the PSC IT Division to migrate on-premise servers to cloud-based servers.
Ensure seamless functionality of the DMS and Portal on the latest cloud-based platforms.
Software Development:Design, develop, and deploy ASP.NET and JAVA code applications for online services such as e-filing, case and docket searches, public proceedings agendas, hearing schedules, and official filings.
Implement coding updates, enhancements, and modifications to DMS functionality as specified by the PSC IT Division.
Coordination and Collaboration:Coordinate with the PSC IT Division for updates, enhancements, and modifications to DMS functions.
Work closely with other IT staff and designated cloud service providers to ensure smooth operation of the DMS.
Deliverables and Acceptance Criteria:
DMS SQL Server Database Maintenance:Document all maintenance activities and provide weekly reports to the PSC IT Division.
Cloud Migration:Ensure successful migration of the DMS to cloud-based servers, meeting acceptance criteria determined after consultation with the IT Division.
Coordination and Code Implementation:Collaborate effectively with the IT Division for updates, enhancements, and modifications.
Design, implement, test, and verify the operation of all code modifications and enhancements after migration to cloud-based servers.
Skills and Technologies Required:
Expertise in SQL Server database maintenance and administration on Windows Server.
Proficiency in ASP.NET and JAVA for designing and deploying online services applications.
Strong understanding of database management principles and system administration.
Experience with cloud migration projects and familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS).
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot database and system issues effectively.
Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Additional Information:
This position will report to the Procurement Officer and Contract Monitor.
The successful candidate will interact with various IT staff as part of the maintenance agreement.
Normal office working facilities and equipment will be provided by the State, with any special requirements identified and addressed accordingly.
